MBB 10 Essential Bulls: Reggie Kohn

As we approach a highly anticipated USF basketball season, let’s look back at some of the student-athletes who got us here.  Our list of 10 essential USF basketball players may not line up perfectly with yours; discussion and debate is welcomed.

We’ll list these 10 players in no particular order.  They may or may not have huge statistics, and they may or may not have been a part of the big plays we all remember.  But because of their talent, their effort or even their timing, they provided a major influence on our USF men’s basketball program.

TAMPA, OCT. 27, 2014 - Ask someone who the greatest shooter in USF basketball history is and you’re in for a long debate.  Bradley? Atkins?  Dobras?  How do you measure guys who played before the three-point shot against guys who played in the three point era? 

 

Maybe it’s the guy who statistically is the greatest three-point shooter in USF history in terms of percentage made.

 

That’s Toarlyn Fitzpatrick, in case you didn’t know.

 

So, we’re probably not going to come to a consensus here.  But let’s examine the case of a Winter Park, Florida native who played with the Bulls from 1999-2003.

 

Reggie Kohn started his entire career, and his mark of 123 games played is second on the all-time USF list.  Kohn could shoot and he could distribute, and as a result, he finds himself USF’s all-time leader in two categories that don’t often go together.
