When bad games are the norm I don't think you can chalk it up to just a bad game.

We HAVE improved. Might not seem like it because it has not translated into more victories.

What we sorely need is consistency. Its one thing when you have been beaten by a better opponent (based on strategy, talent, and coaching)...its another when you cant seem to play good football for 60 minutes while beating yourself up with some really silly penalties and turnovers.

We have more victories than we had last year...

We need way more than just consistency. This soft zone, play 10 yards off the WR's, rarely blitz defense is getting torched.

We're still ranked in the 100+ in just about every team offensive category out there.

Take off the green and gold shades. It's the same team with a weaker schedule.

The delta between this year and last is a win over our warm up game which we some how managed to lose last year. As it stands we are in the exact same place where cwt found us; you don't get to take a step back and then one forward and somehow claim that you have made progress. Edited by puc86

This offense won't work on Fowler Ave and CWT will die trying

The thing that really concerns me is I see no real progress and besides Mack and D'earnest Johnson to some degree, our only legit playmaker is Davis.

With all the talk of our talented freshmen receivers, not one is good enough to replace Welch? Mack and Johnson were good enough to overtake the RBs on the roster. The receivers could not jump up into the 2 deep? So now we will expect at least 2 freshmen (or a relatively inexperienced Bronson) to become our playmakers at receiver next year?

This team just appears so far away from being competitive in conference.

Tulsa was a fluke apparently. Today was a spectacle of feces as cinci beat us like a rented mule. Weighted average improvement over last year is quite minimal. Bummer. Hard to be a fan these days. Miss u CJL.

We MAY beat SMU

If we bring our A game. SMU may be looking at USF as a potential W.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
