Are we ever in the running for Texas players anyway? The same applies to the UF and FSUs of the world. We always get one or two every few years. Because the number of players on scholarship stays the same I suspect we will still be okay.

Is there a maximum limit allowed to be paid to student athletes? If not, I expect that the major schools will just keep raising the amount, in order to buy the best players.

That part about the number of scholarships is so important.  It needs to stay at 85 (since 1992).  I remember when it was over 100.

Paying players changes the entire dynamic of college football. The gap in competitive balance amongst FBS team will become even greater and will give college football more of a minor league football appeal, which will ultimately be its downfall. If given the choice to watch paid football players many will chose the NFL while college football will slip to second tier status.

College football is turning its back on one if its biggest differentiators that makes it unique to the NFL. Its that uniqueness that appeals to many college football fans.

You mean it will change like it did when coaches started to make millions?

This is basic capitalism, which was brought into college sports years ago. Going to have to deal with it, some won't be able to compete, oh well. America

NO school can go above 10K, 5k goes into a trust and 5K for expenses... and yes, USF plans to match this program (for now)

Sucks... but at least USF is going to try for the foreseeable future

Scholarships need to stay at 85. This is the only hope for some competitive balance.

We cannot afford 10,000 for all student athletes. We'd go broke.

USF may not be but neither will 75% of the Pee 5. There are a small number of programs on Texas' level.
