Just have to say how great a job 1st year head coach Brian Surcy is doing at Bloomingdale High School. He has the Bulls at 6-1. He one of the 1st players at USF as he played on special teams. He learned tons from Leavitt he said while at USF and now he is making a name for himself at Bloomingdale who was a 96' grad from that school. I know there are more former USF players that are now coaches. It is great to see those former players do well.

To springboard off of this a bit Ryan Benjamin (USF from 1996-2000), in his 3rd season, has taken the River Ridge Royal Knights (his alma mater in New Port Richey) currently to a 6-1 record as well.  A win next week against Hudson locks the Knights in the playoffs for the first time since 1998.

I wonder of one day USF will have a head coach who played for the Bulls.

Is Matt Grothe still playing arena football? Coaching always seamed on his radar...

I'm sure it will happen.  Maybe not in our life time.

He has interviewed a couple of times for spots on the USF staff...nothing clicked as of yet. I'd love to see him out there...at least as a GA at first or something. Kid still loves and constantly tweets about the program.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
