With the recent departure of our last RB to commit years in advance, my enthusiasm for this pickup is at about a 3. The kid is what, 15? There's a lot of growing up between now and February of 2017 and a lot can change on our end for better or worse as well. We might go in the ****** and he abandons ship. We might blow up and join the SEC, pull down a 5 star RB who now loves us, and he decides he wants playing time USF can no longer offer him.

I agree completely.

But I am happy that even though USF has been pretty bad the past few years, kids are still considering

It's like being ranked in mid-season. It gets you some nice media attention, but it doesn't mean anything. And it's certainly better than the alternative.

I seem to recall a pretty decent back out of Yulee a year or so ago (Bama?).

Yep, Derrick Henry 5star that signed with Bama

Schools pursuing USF commit

SAN ANTONIO - South Florida running back commit Jamari Peacock (Yulee, Fla.) said he's hearing from Ohio State, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Georgia Southern, Miami, South Florida, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, FAU and FIU.

He feels South Carolina will offer next.

Peacock committed to USF this fall.

"That's my early favorite," Peacock said of South Florida. "I have a very close relationship with their staff."

Peacock said he grew up a fan of Florida but sees himself "playing for Ohio State" one day.

He ranked his favorite schools as Ohio State, South Florida, Wisconsin and Georgia in order.

He's gone with those schools interested. Hate to say it

Now hold on a minute. What's this Ohio State got that we don't have?

National championships. And a 100k seat stadium that's always full.

They don't have beaches.  Or weather.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
