Interesting seeing how many people favor The Claw! When I spoke with the golf instructor once, he stated that The Claw is hard enough to be on the tour, if only it was in better condition.

I haven't been back lately but it needed a ton of work back in the day. If it really is that well done now, Billy Casper did a hell of a job

Deceptively tough and hard to score well on but I wouldn't call it a top ranked course.  It's a course that plays deceptively tight since most of fairways are hard and you get alot of leakers that roll off into the ruff/trouble.  Top that off with small hard elevated greens and the course plays tough....especially from tips.  I just wouldn't put it on one of the Tampa or surrounding area courses that you'd want to play.

Also, keep in mind that the team really plays at well manicured Lake Jovita.  The Claw is a very tough course to score well on and holes #3 and #14 are very tough par 5's.

Played there on Monday, was in the best shape I have seen in a long time, The greens were rolling nicely.  Still a beast to score on.  Well worth a visit, they are doing their best to get people to give them another go, at $20 for a Monday afternoon including cart, it was a bargain.  Think the weekend fee is only about $30

Check out GolfNow.com... I use their app and can usually get on the Claw for $15, varies on time and day.

Played there a few weeks ago. Was in really nice shape. Really tough course. Lose like a pack of balls every time I play there. Must be really nice with this weather now.
