USF did make a lot of penalties, but for anyone who doesn't know John McDaid:

"(Side note: Now that Glasses Ref is retired and Ron Cherry bashing has become passé, we hope John McDaid gets his due as one of college football's worst referees. He was the referee in this game. He was the referee in the USF-Cincinnati game we eulogized earlier this summer. He was also the referee in the USF-Houston game last year where his crew called 19 penalties on the Bulls and only four on Houston. They took a go-ahead touchdown away from USF on another lame offensive pass interference call, then badly botched another call, then flagged Willie Taggart for unsportsmanlike conduct for complaining about said botched call. Incredibly, he and his crew were allowed to officiate the 2014 Orange Bowl, which they did their best to ruin with about 15 video reviews. And McDaid became the first referee in history to throw a flag for the sideline Gatorade bath after Clemson had just clinched their biggest win in decades.)

(Good, now that will come up anytime someone Googles John McDaid. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah.)"

That's in reference to McDaid officiating the infamous Rutgervs v #2 USF game.

What's not mentioned in the article Bear posted is that he was the ref for "illegal forward propulsion."

Refs were fine. We are a young team that is still improving and played a much stronger and better opponent. We played a great game - outcome had nothing to do with officiating.

Not the calls so much but there were a large number of questionable spots.

This game would have been over Wisconsin's first possession had the refs swallowed their whistle on the holding call no one saw on Gordon's 55-yard run.

There was a hold on the outside left. They called the wrong number. The dumbassery of complaining they called the wrong number, is that they called the horse collar tackle on number 26. Johnny Ward is number 24

Definitely not calling a fair game. Block in the back and a couple of jersey grabbing going badgers way.

Shame...its almost like these games are fixed.

I just got finished watching the game and that was the conclusion, other than the fact that Wisconsin is severely overrated.

Bulls were whistled 11 for 90

Wisconsin 4 for 35 despite numerous offensive holds, takedowns and blocks in the back.

When they play a team that gets some respect, their one dimensional offense will not be enough.  They were allowed to open lanes using WWE moves.  Those gross holds will be called against good teams.

Not impressed.

Bulls played hard, not taking anything away from them, but Wisconsin was unimpressive.

The refs were treating it as a scrimmage for Wisconsin.

You should probably read.  No one blamed a loss on the refs.  It's an opinon, like you just made.
