Again, we need wins. 2016 we already have 2 ACC matchups. What else do you want?

We need to give ourselves a chance to get back on our feet. And we can do that with respectable wins against teams like NIU. We have the big tests on our schedule, every year. We don't need 2 big tests - not yet.

EDIT: Also, don't like that sources keep leaking to ESPiN. If the dept has something to announce, announce it. If not, get rid of the mole.

Side note, NIU's AD is killing it with the scheduling in the future. Nebraska, Utah, BYU, SD State, Maryland, Ohio State, BC, Arkansas, Northwestern...

Home and homes?

Not Nebraska or Ohio State.

I kinda like it because NIU is two hours from here. They have a freakin' CASTLE on campus.

A Castle.

Thanks. I keep waiting for our first SEC home-and-home.  or B12 for that matter.

Surprised no BYU deal as they are hunting for games as an indy.

As much as I would like to see P5 teams on our schedule, you have to keep in mind that Harlan said he would not accept a one-and-done at the opponent's site.  This might be part of the reason we haven't scheduled those P5 schools.

Just as we pay to play an 1AA team to start out the season, these P5's are probably looking for home and done games with what they consider to be lesser programs. I'm not classifying us as a 1AA team, I'm just giving this scenario as an example.

I too would love to see us playing the alleged powerhouse teams.

Harlan also recently mentioned that he was close to obtaining signatures from some high profile universities, I doubt the man is done since 2018 needs to be filled with 1 or 2 higher profile universities. The schedules look good for the next couple years, we can't only schedule big teams.

I would have rather had Boise than NIU though if we were going for G5 schools just for name value alone...but whatevs

2015: FAMU, @ Maryland, @ Florida Sate, Syracuse

2016: Towson, Northern Illinois, @ Syracuse, Florida State

2017: Stonybrook, Illinois, Wisconsin, @Northern Illinois

2018: Elon, @ Illinois

UCF schedules Stanford home and home and we schedule NIU.

Epic fail!

Maybe we can get Univ of Buffalo or Texas State

I get that NIU is not the 'sexy' opponent your fan base was looking for, but it will be a good test for your program.  NIU is a quality program.  Clearly in rebuild mode after graduating Jordan Lynch, but they are 49-11 (.816), including this season, since the turn of the decade and have won 11+ games each of the last four seasons.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”
