jimmy bayes?

He was one of our top recruits this past year and one of our most vocal supporters. I haven't heard a lick about him since arriving on campus. I guess he is red shirting, but it is a bit odd to not hear anything. Does anybody have news on how he is progressing?

Learning the scheme. He's probably in good enough shape to play but he's probably gotta earn it and he's got Nigel Harris in front of him I would presume.

There was a time when it was mandatory to redshirt as a freshman.  I think that was a pretty solid idea, but smaller roster sizes make that idea pretty much impossible now.

 

No need to worry about not seeing a true freshman.  Hopefull we'll get to the point where we expect to not see true freshmen on the field, that will mean we have developed depth.

Bayes and Vincent Jackson both could have played but we seem ok at DE and OLB so they'll probably redshirt.

I agree on McCants, thought he would have gotten some special teams time at least. However, they have D'Ernest, Childs and Dunkley doing well so probably another redshirt.

However, I think if CWT thinks any of the guys can contribute then they will play. Lot of football left and injuries may still force some issues.

I haven't heard much either. He was arguably our BEST recruit. The only thing I can think of is that LB is probably our strongest position with Harris, Cliett, Sanchez, Swain, and Whitehurst. Looks like he's okay with whatever the situation is. He's always talking USF up on twitter. 

 

Kinda worries me from a recruiting standpoint though (I could be over thinking it though). Why come to USF when you could basically choose anywhere you wanted to go if you weren't going to play right away? At this point that's the main selling point if I'm a recruit if I'm looking at just about whatever P5 school I want and USF.
