ESPN's College Football Scoreboard is always fun when analysts Lou Holtz and Mark May get into it. Give Holtz the knockout victory on the first Saturday of the season. On Saturday's show, May was talking about Ohio State and Alabama, both of whom won but struggled at times. "If we were picking the final four (for the playoff) today, I would be reluctant to put either team in (with) the way they played today,'' May said. My goodness, it wasn't even September yet! Fortunately, Holtz didn't let May's silly line pass. "I think it's foolish to evaluate a team after one week,'' Holtz said. "You don't know what you have. It's like a baby being born. Is it going to be a doctor? I don't know. It's a baby.''

Lol He's right though. I'm as bad as anyone for judging our football team after this first week. Glad we got a W and hopefully more things will come together against the turtles this weekend. And players grow in experience. Edited September 2, 2014 by slick1ru2

He doesn't get too wrapped up in their hype of one team or another (or conference for that matter). The only teams he favors are ND and SC (for obvious reasons). He gives everyone a fair chance. Not saying we can't turn it around, but hopefully our coach can learn to prepare his team week 1. Last year was simply unfathomable and but for a few breaks going our way Willie almost lead a repeat performance!

Lou Holtz is reading whatever someone tells him to read. He only favors ND and SC cause they are the only two teams he can remember week in and week out. Guy was a great coach and even a decent broadcaster for a while. Now he is a shining example of how you can stay in your position far too long.
