Whatever side of field Johnny ward was lined up on....not a knock on him as playet cuz i think he has been solid, just an observation....seemed to keep throwing screen passes to his side....btw Chris Dunkley looked awesome as a db and a returner on special teams, think coach deserves some credit for recognizing this kid is a stud athlete and even if he isnt getting it at wr u have to find a way to get him on field

meh....their whole offense was screen passes for the most part. Their QB hardly every kept it for more than 2 seconds unless the pressure was on. We likely wont see that kind of offense again for the rest of the season so I wouldnt use last night as our defensive barometer. Just look at the first two games from last year. All about matchups.

And then follow up the MiSU game by falling on our faces against FAU ... You're exactly right, all about matchups and the fact that every single game is played in a vacuum, each with its' own unique circumstances. Appreciate the win and move on to the next game hoping we can do enough to pull out a win, like was done last night .... Of course, if everybody took that stance, this board would be a pretty boring place.

Don't be surprised to see Maryland run some plays like that to see if we handle the same way.  I would, if I were their OC.  WCU was attacking, they went over and over again to what was working for them.

If what you're doing is working most of the time, why would you change it?

Really? You don't think opposing coaches will watch game tape to see what our weaknesses are? Expect another heavy dose

After rewatching on espn 3 i agree, the dbs were playing way off in first half and wcu exploited it

When we actually moved DB's up the WR screen wasn't working for them.

Exactly.  But we didn't stick to that.  We reverted back to a soft zone.  Don't understand it.

I don't either, but we went back to it after going up 30-17. Should have just stayed with what was working.

A little, but not much.

We will likely be overlooked by Maryland and Wisconsin. NCSU not so much, they want revenge

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
