They need to be spending the entire week being retaught how to tackle. Angles, pursuit, pretty much everything in that area was embarrassing. Brown and Diggs will both go over 200 yards if we see the same lunacy against UMD.

It wasn't all technique, it was scheme too.

They played soft to keep the defense on the field, since our coaches don't trust our offense with the ball.

I think we have a Bend, Don't Break DC. And that is going to lose games. He was clueless on that short route.

Nooooooooo say it isnt so

I keep thinking today the gameplan vanilla. But given how we almost lost, it makes me question that a bit. But my goodness, couldn't they have just had the corners press at some point? They just kept throwing those dang bubble screens

Also seemed 85% of those bubble screens were to the defensive left.

Dunkley needs to find the ball better.

It was annoying to watch, but I wasn't so concerned that we didn't adjust to the bubble screens. What irritated me more was when we were up by 2 scores and we knew they had throw downfield and we only rushed 3. We gave the QB forever to throw.

I wondered about the tackling a bit at times also. Towards the end of the game, i think it was their last drive, Byrd submarine tackled the receiver on a 3rd down and 6. The guy fell forward for an extra 2 yards and barely got the first to keep the drive alive. Byrd was easily in position to wrap and drive the guy backwards to stop the drive. Those are the kind of big plays, at the right times our defense used to make.

Bresnahan is a decent DC. He is capable of making the right adjustments when needed not worried about that.

this defense is young. even Leavitt's defenses when they were young made plenty of mistakes. they will get better. I hope Bresnahan trusts them a little more. having them play on their heels is not good. rather they play aggressive even if they make mistakes.
