The Good: Great performance from Marlon Mack, he carried the offense tonight. Defense played well when they showed some passion

The Bad: USF pass defense, most of the night the defense looked lost

The Ugly: White just about every pass was off target, especially in the first half.

White was awful, AWFUL in the first half, and throughout most of the game.

However, I will say that He made some big throws when we needed them. Just couldn't deliver consistently.

White showed sparks but is way too inconsistent and too much inaccuracy.

Defense was scary. In a bad way.

Defense played well when they jammed and had to make open field tackles.  The offensive line also played pretty well. Much better overall performance compared to last season.

The defense was too passive and gave up too many quick passes. The guy had over 40 completions.

Basically the first half and half of the third quarter were terrible in regards to White and his accuracy. The 4th quarter and parts of the third were decent.

Defense was way too conservative. They only got after it a few times. Defensive backs need how to push off blocks and make a tackle. Those short passes killed us.

Gonna get much harder next week against Maryland.

They destroyed James Madison, normally a FCS power, 52-7.  That's called taking care of business.  We couldn't do that do that easily tonight against one of the worst teams in FCS, one that has lost its last 21 away games going into tonight.

Of course, we were one of the worst teams in FBS last year, and played like it for a half again tonight.

We need to be MUCH better and I think Bench needs to see more reps this week with the first team.  As much as I can't stand Doug Graber, he was right when he said White lost his poise.  He HAS to maintain his confidence through adversity.  He has all the tools to be great, he just needs to believe it himself.

Yes, they just didn't seem to make adjustments on the fly.  I think our depth started getting to them late, as we started getting pressure inside because we had fresh bodies to send out there.  But WCU played a pretty simple offense tonight and they shredded us.  I'm definitely worried about this moving forward.

Box score stats are up. Add time of possession to the ugly. WC had the ball for 37 min vs our 23 min. That has to change

I was nervous going into the game and all I can say is that my worries were justified. That team scares me. They took the names off, but if it wasn't for a couple players that game would have been a blow out, the bad kind. The WCU team had heart and never gave up. They executed. I'd trade White for the QB in a heartbeat. He can make a pass, quickly. The OC needs to copy the WCU playbook when it comes to short passes. They killed USF. CB, you have a LOT of work to do and I don't think sitting in a Cover 2 zone pretty much all the time is the answer for that kind of offense, obviously.

Pretty much agree with all of this.  Only part I disagree with is that our OC actually called a pretty decent game, IMO, but White had absolutely zero accuracy in most instances tonight.  If his completion % was 10-20 points higher, we may have gotten a couple more scores where we went three and out, or TDs where we kicked field goals.

We don't need to alter our offense, we just need to keep handing the ball to Mack and we need to have our QBs hit their receivers.

CB - you're totally right, it seems they're so afraid of getting beat deep that they give away tons of yards underneath.  Dunkley did a good job in man coverage tonight and Johnny Ward looked pretty good too.  Line them up closer to the WRs they are covering and maybe it takes away some out passes like we saw tonight.
