Today's problems were between the server host and their domain partner. It was an unplanned outage. I did not find out until The Sheriff texted me this morning. Hopefully the host offers some recompense for the down time.

I'm just glad it wasn't something seriously wrong. DNS issues shouldn't happen but still do and even to huge companies. I'd ask for compensation, definitely.

Heh, recently Sony Online let several domain names expire thus causing some fun problems for some of their games 2 months after the expiry when they were finally released to the public.

 

So it does happen.

I can assure you our domain did not and will not expire.

This was a problem at enom, the folks paid to maintain the domains for a number of hosting companies.

From what I can gather, Windstream had a main fiber link cut up around Cleveland. This caused a large chunk of the internet to go down while the routers reconfigured around the break.
