Senior wide receiver Andre Davis (Tampa), senior tight end Mike McFarland (Tampa), senior wide receiver/punt returner Chris Dunkley (Pahokee) and senior kicker Marvin Kloss (Naples) were all named to watch lists for their respective positions. CFPA is in its seventh season of awards recognition, utilizing objective rankings of player and team performance across offense, defense, and special teams. Twenty-eight individual award winners from CFPA have been first-round NFL Draft selections. Kloss was previously named to the preseason watch list for the 2014 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award and Dunkley to the watch list for the Paul Hornung Award. They were joined by senior center Austin Reiter (Rimington Trophy) and junior tight end Sean Price (Mackey Award) on national award watch lists. Kloss became USF’s first national award finalist in 2013 when he was among the final three players selected by national voting for the Groza Award. He was named a second team All-American by Athlon Sports after leading the nation with 11 field goals of 40 yards or more and four of 50 plus yards in 2013. One of 40 FBS players named to the CFPA Placekicker Trophy watch list. Dunkley averaged 22.6 yards per kickoff return and 24.2 yards per punt return last season, including returning a punt 50 yards for a touchdown vs. SMU, after which he earned National Punt Returner of the Week honors from the College Football Performance Awards. He was one of 40 FBS players named to the CFPA Kick Returner Punt Returner Trophy watch list. Davis returns for his senior season after setting the USF single-season record with 735 receiving yards last season. Davis brings career marks of 117 catches, 1,542 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns into 2014 and is on pace to break USF career receiving marks for catches (131), yards (1,648) and touchdowns (14). One of 42 FBS players named to the CFPA Wide Receiver Trophy watch list. McFarland ranked as the Bull’s second leading receiver in 2013 posting 23 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns to earn second team All-American Athletic Conference honors. He was one of 42 FBS players named to the CFPA Tight End Trophy watch list. The Bulls return 16 starters (10 offense, 4 defense, 2 specialists) for coach Willie Taggart’s second season at the helm, which kicks off on Aug. 30 vs. Western Carolina at Raymond James Stadium. The Bulls 2014 non-conference schedule features home clashes vs. Big Ten foe Maryland (Sept. 6) and ACC opponent N.C. State (Sept. 13) as well as a road game at perennial Big Ten power Wisconsin (Sept. 27). USF will welcome UConn (Fri., Sept. 19), East Carolina (Sat., Oct. 11), Houston (Sat., Nov. 1) and UCF (Fri., Nov. 28) to Raymond James in American Athletic Conference action. The Lou Groza Award is presented annually to the top place kicker... The CFPA literally means the college football performance award. It's not just for kickers.
