Of the local area people, students, alumni, and bandwagoners, what would you say are the percentages for a given home game (both nowadays and when we packed the stadium in the past)? Do you think we have a big contingent (20K? 30K+?) of die-hard supporters?

Empty stadium We probably have a base of 16k die hards saddest part about Miami, is that they've actually won NC's and still don't get the support they deserve. I have seats on the visitor side, and every game I see a lot of seats open on the home side down low. Very disappointing. I think some of our season ticket holders purchased holding out for the day when Florida State, Miami or other programs with that stature come to town. But, with a 4 year old and a 1 year old, it's a lot of work to get the posse out to the game and back for a product that doesn't keep me entertained. Slide me from diehard to bandwagon. Win again and we can pull 30 and 45k again...ranked and we can bring in 50k plus.

Even with recent measures to make Bucs games more affordable, and assuming the on field product gets better, I still think USF games are a heck of a deal. They may be more of a deal for families as well. I don't think the die is cast for USF, they may be late to the party compared to many schools in football, but they still have plenty of time to solidify a fan base. We all have to remember that while there are plenty of alums who graduated pre-late '90s who cheer for us, there's a ton that still cheer for other teams, and as we enter year 18 or so, we've just now had one generation of football fans essentially. That's why, in addition to the ongoing auditions for any sort of conference realignments/upgrades, the next 5-10 years are essential to continue to solidify the USF fanbase, by keeping the "first generation (i.e. us)" fans interested and convinced this program is here to stay and win games and future championships (on any sort of division, conference, level). And that also will show the current students and future fans that there's something here to be proud of, and it's also up to us to continue our support, even in these darker times.
