TAMPA, May 8, 2014 – Head coach Orlando Antigua announced the signing of Ruben Guerrero to a national letter of intent on Thursday.

 

Guerrero, a 6-10 center/forward from Malaga, Spain, averaged 9.3 points and 8.5 rebounds last season, his only season competing for Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kan. Guerrero helped the Buffaloes finish with a national ranking of 14 by USA Today and a 19-7 record while playing a national schedule.

 

“I’m extremely excited about Ruben joining our program,†Antigua said. “He’s a long, athletic, skilled big man that can play a couple of positions. He’s a great kid coming from a great program in Sunrise Christian. He’s also a good student and will be a great representation of our program at USF.â€

 

Guerrero, rated a three-star recruit by Scout.com, is also a member of the 18U Spanish national team. He is ranked No. 33 on DraftExpress.com’s International ’95 list.

 

Guerrero joins Troy Holston, Dinero Mercurius and Nehemias Morillo as incoming student-athletes for the upcoming season.
