Alex Kline â€@TheRecruitScoop

South Florida has offered 2016 PG Derryck Thornton of the Oakland Soldiers (CA), his father confirms.

This is a 5* player, #1 or #2 player in the state of California for his class, and likely future NBA player. As good of a PG there is in that class right now. Coach O had been recruiting him for Kentucky, now he is doing it for his USF Bulls.

You're probably right, but let's wait it out a little.  If Coach O can pull this off, he will live up to his reputation as a great recruiter.

So far this staff is doing everything they say were going to do with recruiting. There is a video on the main page of Oliver Antigua confidently talking about USF recruiting the best players from their back yard, spreading across the nation, plus going intentionally. Basically said the future rosters will reflect that.

Going after this kid who has lottery pick potential down the road is proof that USF is indeed going after the best nationally. Seeing the all the talented local kids visit yesterday is more proof what the staff will go after. Even though Coach O was an assistant he has major rep and kids are wanting to meet him and are excited about an offer from USF. The local kids really seemed pumped to just meet with Coach O. The # 1 or #2 PG in the 2016 class was excited to get an offer from Coach O and USF.

Recruiting is no guarantee even for the best programs, but so far this staff is reaching out to those that are talented.

I think this difference we have when talking about "great recruiter" is that you are really immersed in this whole recruiting thing, on a daily basis, and can appreciate the intricacies of the process and use that to identify someone as "great". The vast majority of the rest of us out here don't really care HOW it's done, just the results .... who did you actually get to sign here ... and that's how we judge what kind of a recruiter someone is .... "Show me the money player!"  ;)

Until he SIGNS a Top 25 class he is a potentially good recruiter.

I'm guessing the guy on the right is Kenny Gillion ...

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
