Signed with Tulsa over such schools that included USF.

With Danny Manning leaving Tulsa Mitchell Wilbekin & his family will start NLI release process & see what opportunities are available

@glenngrillo I don't see them offering him a scholarship. Florida already has a point guard coming in next year but USF needs one badly

Russ is right USF needs a PG very badly and that position has a huge question mark on it right now. Coach O has to have the right PG that can play in his offense it won't work. Wilbekin is considered a good shooting PG as well. Would be nice pickup late is Coach O can first get free from UK, secondly decides to go after him.

Only watched the first 5 minutes of this, but he seems to have good awareness and leadership skills, decent speed and dribbling, and only fair defense. Not sure he's a better player than AC, but he might be a better fit for an uptempo offense, perhaps.

He's # 11 in red.

Is the release always given with a coaching change?

Usually...

Tulsa signee & The Rock (FL) point guard Mitchell Wilbekin has officially requested his release from to re open his recruitment

Again not sure if Coach Antigua goes after him, but USF does need a PG very badly and he is probably the best left out there right now.

Is he related to the UF pg?

Yes.

He is the younger brother of Scottie Wilbekin, a point guard who concluded his Florida career in the Final Four on Saturday.

Here's your other PG prospect to go along with Canty who will be visiting soon. If Collins goes then the spot is wide open for a talented guy like Wilbekin and/or Canty who might can get that Legislative wavier to play next season.

I expect UVa, USF, Boston College, Wake Forest & Cincinnati to quickly reach out to Mitchell Wilbekin who Tulsa just released from his NLI

Per a source, Mitchell Wilbekin spoke with USF Head Coach Orlando Antigua & could visit USF soon.

Just another sign that Coach O has been slow playing several prospects in hopes of landing better ones. Wilbekin is one of several PGs out there that fit what Coach O wants to do and he's talking to all of them. Just don't have that guy on the roster right now, hopefully that changes over the next few weeks.

WF has now offered him.

Wilbekin's initial college decision to attend Tulsa with head coach Danny Manning revealed his true desire to play for Manning. His main reason for choosing Tulsa was his "relationship with Coach Manning and their style of play."

He further elaborated on Danny Manning, saying "I love his calm demeanor and the fact that he's played and excelled at the highest levels so I know he can develop my game." These qualities caused Wilbekin to commit to Manning before and may cause him to commit to Manning again.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
