TikiBull Posted July 4, 2012 Group: Member Topic Count: 12 Content Count: 356 Reputation: 1 Days Won: 0 Joined: 09/26/2005 Share Posted July 4, 2012 Actually - I started a thread on this kid in October of last year (full disclosure: this is my son's high school team, soI know these players well!) People may question the competetion level, but this kid is a legit D1 player. Much of that highlight video is against Admiral Farragut HS, which was loaded with talent themsleves - RD5 had a career day - on offense, defense and on special teams too...would love to see the Bulls at least show some interest...many others have. The kid has been a fixture on campus for the sling & shoots and the Gruden QB specials (several CDS players have participated over the past couple of years). There is a lot of talent at some of these small private schools, and I beleive they can turn out some gems...just need to know where to look! Small back with world class speed and without much in the way of offers. LSU decided to take a chance on him and he turned into a terrific weapon for them. It never hurts to at least kick the tires on a player with that kind of speed.

Good talent get missed all the time, though less than it used to be. If you are a football player at Plant, it is impossible to be missed. But if your kid is at some of these schools that aren't on the college radar, you have to do a lot of work yourself to get noticed. Or you have to get into the right offseason camps or essentially become represented by someone with contacts. Basically, you have to pay the price, one way or the other. It never hurts to at least kick the tires on a player with that kind of speed. LSU can better afford to take fliers like that. They also have more talent from top to bottom making a small speed back more effective. That said, I'd offer Davis to come to USF.

There's going to be a flier or 3 in there. And there should be in every class. As for Davis the problem is that the staff seems to want bigger backs and we have a lot of bodies at WR. He may get that offer built may be a while before the staff's board clears up of kids ahead of him.

Assuming you mean Michael Hayes the running back, the new staff had some (academic?) issue with him and he ended up at Houston. He had a decent career there.
