They want the name and if they take it, they get less money.

$35 million and they can leave in a month, have the name Big East and play their MBB tournament at MSG.

(I bet the actual number will be about $20 million)

I was thinking about this. The Big East should take all the entry and exit fees they have collected and use them to boost the tv money.

I think they should add $500,000 to the new members annual tv revenue,

$750,000 to Temple's

$1 million to USF, UC and UConn.

There should be just enough to last the length of the new tv deal.

Gotta remember the MSG contract is up for grabs too. The settlement money is gonna be worth $40MM or thereabouts. Value to the seven. 1 year of TV Contract= $40MM. Name value= About $20MM and MSG contract unfettered= $10MM. They can prolly pay it out of this years NCAA money. USF, Cincy and UConn(only full rights voting member with control of the cash) are gonna be sitting on a pile of cash at that point. They already have

WVU= $20MM

Syr= $7.5MM

Pitt= $7.5MM

UL= $10MM+ additional for early exit

Rut= $10MM+ additional for early exit

TCU= Backout fee of $5MM

BSU= Backout fee of $5MM

SDSU= Free backout cause BSU backed out.

Total= equals $65MM and counting. This conference realignment is becoming a lucrative business.Let's say I'm overly optimistic about recovery from the Nuns in the NE, half my estimate is $20MM plus $65MM split 3 ways.

THAT's $28MM each for Cincy, UConn and USF.

makes it worth waiting a little bit to let the dust settle, eh?

You are right about all the money being collected .... but millions have already been spent. Lawyers have claimed millions defending the league in lawsuits (WVU for one). Also, I believe the Big East paid to get Temple out of two leagues, that cost millions of dollars too. Some money has to go to the new schools too, don't forget Temple.

Why on god's green earth would you add any money to Temple and the old CUSA members? Last CUSA deal with Fox was worth $716,000 per team per year. They already got their raise. as to the millions and millions. More like 50's and hunerds. if they are paying that much to get Temple on board and to lawyers in RI, prolly the first move the NBE should make is to get Aresco and that clown car out of the NE. This ain't your daddy's BB conference no more. We have more Southern FB schools than anything else any longer. UConn has been Benedict Arnold during this whole show. Why leave the conference in the NE? Move it somewhere cheap like Charlotte or Nashville.

    "There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
