Everyone knows I'm a loyal Greenberg supporter... and I found it tough accepting McCullum (especially with all the losing going on). The Yusef incident and many others had me questioning "WTF" is going on between the coach and his relationship with our players. After finally giving in and joining "The Force", I must admit "The Dark Side" has pulled me back.

Either McCullum has lost control of the team, or we're going to have a hell've an upset tonight and the ship will be righted. If we don't regroup tonight, my personal opinion is to go looking for a coach that has won at this level and give the guy a chance with a team entering the Big East.

Sometimes taking a mid-major coach isn't always the right move. For all those people that scream that our basketball team has the highest GPA in C-USA... no offense... getting a 2.7 isn't as difficult as many of us make it seem. I don't necessarily see having a 2.7 GPA making up for 2.7 straight seasons of a losing record (I know it's not that long, but it doesn't look like it will be far from being that long).

Count me in with Beastie Bull and Turkey Shizzler as having joined "The Dark Side". I've never picked against USF football in a prediction contest... I always thought we have had a chance going into the game. In basketball now, I can't even come to pick us to win a game unless we're playing ECU (that is not good, tragic to be honest). Just the other day while watching the Cinci game with Bulliever, the game got to the point where I was more worried with covering my spread in the Prediction Contest Thread than actually losing by 15 points and looking somewhat respectable.

That is not good...

The Dark Side list grows  :(:

Turkey Shizzler

LOL, good post.   Hey, I am just calling it as I see it. Some say that I am crying over the loses, but I am just seeing that our team has been playing worse since the Marquette game. What I am concerned about are the missed FTs. That was the same thing that haunted Seth while at USF. There is no excuse for missing those FTs. It was not like Cincy, Houston, or Memphis were defended those missed FTs. Getting outrebounded is something I can handle right now because USF is still trying to build with bigger recruits. (Hopefully that 7fter can ball). I cant bring myself to call for a new coach right now. I am going to see what we have the next few years. (I still wonder if we are NIT bound with a heathly Mosley).  Yes the dark side is strong. There are only a few rebels left that believe we are playing better.  We must get into the C-USA tourney or this season is a bust IMO. How hard can it be to at least get that goal?? Jeez!!

Sure the rebels might win, but it does not mean that Jedi Master McCullum will survive the power of the Darkside. Seth was a promising Jedi, yet he could not overcome the power of the Dark Side.

Well let me give you a tip and spare you from the wait.  Your chance for McCullum to right the ship is like asking Seth to right the ship against UAB tonight without his #1 player - not going to happen.  Seth could not coach us to victory tonight any more than McCullum could with the personnel on hand.  Even Seth's star recruits, Marlyn Bryant and Brandon Brigman (both seniors), are not helping this ship right now.

We likely will not win the game so you may as well turn off all the lights on the dark side and remain there.

There is not going to be a quick turnaround even with Leather in the lineup - to base anything on tonight's game is crazy.

Brad,

I am not concerned about whether we win or not. I am more concerned about how we will respond to this game. Do we get blown out again?  Or do we compete and play well in defeat? I think that is what I am going to judge this game on. Shoot, it would be a miracle if USF did win on the road against UAB even if Seth was coaching with BB WALDON and Altron Jackson. You have to admit that UAB is one heck of a team at home. Lets hope for the best tonight. I may have to break out the Vodka for this game tonight.

Very reasonable except for one thing:  For increased chance of successful self-medication, break the vodka out about an hour before tip-off.   ::drinker::

LOL, that is a very good idea. I am usually a happy drunk, so I think it will be good for this game.

Finally!  a solution... good idea brad!  ;)

I agree... Basketbull seems very optimistic ... that is telling.  He's usually a "decent" litmus test for where the majority of people stand.

BasketBull has not been himself this year. I will never forget the days of Seth when Basketball use to switch back and fourth from VADERBULL to BASKETBULL. Those were the good ol days. I take it that BASKETBULL was never a Seth fan. LOL.

Not on the dark side yet, because we're about on target with pre-season expectations right now.
We are sitting on 8 wins - I think most people on this board predicted 11-14 wins which isn't completely out of the question. McCullum had them competing like heck at the end of last season and I feel pretty good that we'll get at least 3 more W's, hopefully we can make the CUSA tourney which is the goal for this team.
Don't be surprised that UAB is NOT going to be win #9.

You have got to be freaking kidding me.

Sheriff, why don't you just move to TechSideLine or some other VT basketball forum. It's obvious by now that that's where your true loyalties lie.

You might have an ounce of credibility on this topic if you could manage to go five words without "Greenberg" being one of them. Look at the original post on this thread. One, two, three, four -- look, there it is.

And now you're asserting that the Robert McCullum era is lost, halfway through the second season, if USF, without its leading scorer, can't win a road game against a team that's probably in the NCAA field. How conveeeeeenient.

You claim to be such a loyal USF fan, but here you are actively organizing an opposition movement. And for what? So USF can hire someone else who's not Seth Greenberg either? What happened to supporting the team through thick and thin? Hmm?

I once donated money so you and your group could travel to Birmingham and cheer for the Bulls. And went to bat for you when their fans came here and complained of your behavior. Three years later, you're hoping that UAB wins, because it helps illustrate what a coaching genius your hero was.

You, sir, are to USF fans what Dennis Franchione is to Alabama football coaches.

And if I get put in the penalty box for this post, fine. It needed to be said. I'm tired of OUR team and OUR coach being trashed, when the only crime being committed is "Coaching While Not Seth Greenberg."

It does not matter who the coach is...  It is going to take a while to get the bull ship back on course.  Even in the Cinci game the team had its moments.   The officials let our players be mugged and that killed anything we might have done.   The last couple game have been disappointing, but only because the ones before that exceeded everyone’s expectations.

After the game I had dinner at Carrabba’s...  brings back some memories of bullball past.  Yikes, Sheriff we watched you at UAB from Carrabba’s.

WOW GarySJ you the man!  Line me up with you and the force!  The ally of the SETH (Sheriff) has never left the darkside.   I know the Sheriff's passion for USF is strong for football, however his blood has curdled and turned black as he has never left Seth's _______(place body part here!)..  Seriously I have watched with great pride the passion Sheriff has at football (sheriff you were a maniac at USC you never gave up)   I just wish you would give coach Mac a chance... And before you start justifing your support of Mac, please don't because I know you never gave 1% of your normal passion that fuels football and the DEPARTED seth..

TMAN,

The Sheriff gave McCullum a chance after the close loss to MARQ. It was too bad that McCullum blew it against both Memphis and Houston. Both those games were winnable IMO. Memphis is not that good and Houston was on the road where they had a long losing streak in C-USA. Take away those missed FTs and have some of those open shots fall in then USF may have won one of those games. Right now, I dont blame Sheriff, Beastie, or Turkey for criticizing McCullum and the program. Until we start to win, we can continue to expect hits from the Dark Side.

I got your back too, Gary.  I have grown very tired of seeing Seth's marks try to act like A) Seth did something here, B) Mac is the devil, and C) Mac should go because he hasn't been able to clean up Seth's mess so fast.

Mac has instituted a number of changes to our program that can't be quantified so quickly.  Our players walk around on campus with their pants properly pulled up and buckled and without a blunt in their pocket.  Mac lost many of Seth's players because he was instilling discipline to a group that was used to a lack of control.  I am impressed with Mac.

There is nothing wrong with criticizing Mac.  However, always bringing up Seth is uncalled for and brings questions about where loyalties lie.
