The Miami scandal could have major repercussions on current recruiting. Middleton junior wide receiver Richard Benjamin, one of the most sought-after players in Hillsborough County, said the report will play a role in his college decision.

"They were actually my number one (choice), but now they are probably lower,'' he said. "It all depends upon what happens (as far as sanctions).

Benjamin has us in his top five. That's great considering his offer list(everybody and their dog). He's making an OV for UTEP

Thought about something after I posted. Next year is really looking positive, even now. The skill positions with McQuay, Hargreaves and Benjamin are Top Ten recruiting targets and all have sincere USF interest. I like what we are doing. Skip is a low key recruiter but the kids that fall in love with us stay in love with us. I think it is because they have come to realize what a tightly knit program we are. Even kids who want to leave the Bay(can't blame a young man for wanting to go out on his own) are giving this program a great deal of respect. Chickillo last year and Agholor this year are great examples.Recruiting is gonna be great if conference politics can keep their mitts off us.

Benjamin, who holds more than 30 Division I-A offers, said Thursday his top five schools, in no certain order, are USF, Florida, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame and Florida State.

from the article bill listed.

I read recently that UF plans on only signing 16 players in this class. They already have 10 verbals. One of them is listed as a WR. So, I'm not sure how high a priority he really is to them, with apparently so few remaining scholarships to give out.

Hopefully, since UF is only signing 16 players that benefits USF since we are signing 25. Wonder what FSU and Miami are signing next year.

Didn't MIAMI just sign 30 or more players? If so, I don't think they will have a very big class. They may have done that in anticipation of losing scholarships when the NCAA comes down on them.

With the 35 wr's we're going to have on the roster, we'd have to tell him that to ahve any chance at signing him ....

It just that Holtz didn't have ANY WRs when he got here....so he said....oh this isn't happening again. Not until I have at least......16 deep.

So who do we have....just going by the roster.

Stephen Bravo Brown
Andre Davis
Chris Dunkley
Ruben Gonzalez
Sterling Griffin
Linsey Lamar
Terrance Mitchell
Victor Marc
Deonte Welch
Derrick Hopkins
Jordan Duval
William Whiteside

Then we are adding D'Vario Montgomery and Mutt this class. So that will get us to 14.

Next year Lindsey Lamar and Victor Marc will be seniors and we already have the two WR commits from Immakolee so far for 2013.

But USF has a lot of offers to WR's out there....so I would expect at least one or 2 more. Besides Benjamin.....you have Alvin Bailey at Armwood, Travis Johnson at Jesuit, the 2 WR at Lincoln Tallahassee (BJ's school) Reggie Davis and Taj Williams. Kid out of Ft. Lauderdale Jordan Cunningham.

Those are probably our top targets.....they all have offers from everybody so our chances are probably low. But one of them would be nice. Besides those mentioned we have about 9 other offers out there to WR/ATH.

Saw Orlando Evans WR Tony Stevens commited to FSU today, so that is one less kid with a USF offer out there.

So are we now complaining that we have too many great WR's coming in???? What a difference a year makes.

Haven't heard anything to that effect. My hunch is still firm on Wiggins being a "sign and place."

so if you read this read, L3's dad is said:

"L3 ,rich boi, all following vernon III. right it down !"

then a couple lines down said:

"Those three on the same defense makes a decent team great real fast."

so if we're the only team that has talked to benjamin about playing defense, could it be we're getting all three? Just speculation and putting stuff together. L3's dad did say in another thread on bcp that we were looking real good.

again just speculation, but those three would be huge.
