As a USF grad and lifelong Denver Broncos fan, I am very happy right now!  Welcome to the Mile High City Kayvon! It's great to have a Bull on the team.

USF FOOTBALL: Webster Selected in the Third Round by the Denver Broncos

Webster Selected in the Third Round by the Denver Broncos

NEW YORK - University of South Florida DB Kayvon Webster was selected 90th overall by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He becomes the Bulls ninth NFL Draft pick over the last four years, which is tied for the most of any team currently in the BIG EAST.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the Denver franchise,” said Webster. “I’ve been dreaming about this night my entire life. I’ve had so much support from my family, friends, the people in Miami, the people at USF, I’m just so excited. But, this is just the continuation of my journey. I’m ready to go to work and I’m going to prove the Broncos right for drafting me.”

With the selection, Webster becomes the eighth Bulls defensive back to be selected in the NFL Draft. He joins Mistral Raymond (Minnesota Vikings, 2011), Nate Allen (Philadelphia Eagles, 2010), Jerome Murphy (St. Louis Rams, 2010), Mike Jenkins (Dallas Cowboys, 2009), Trae Williams (Philadelphia Eagles, 2009), J.R. Reed (Philadelphia Eagles, 2004) and Anthony Henry (Cleveland Browns, 2001).

“He has excellent cover skills and speed, which you need in this league,” Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway said on Twitter shortly after the selection.

Webster, a 2011 second-team All-BIG EAST selection, played in 49 games, starting 32, during his four-year career with USF. He tallied 190 tackles, two sacks, 8.5 TFL, three INT, 15 PBU, four forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Last season, Webster led the team in tackles with 82 to go along with two sacks, four TFL, six PBU and three forced fumbles.

I may be mistaken, but a Bull went before a Cane in the draft

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”
