But did Armwood actually KNOW it was using ineligible players?
Most of the reports I've read state that it was the PARENTS that lied, not the school.
And I think i read that some players eligibility was called into question (such as the latest report above) but the parents/family provided documents (obviously falsified) that 'confirmed' that they were indeed eligible.
I remember back in the day, students (not sports related) used false address info to get into my HS, because they would have gone to the ghetto one for their area. There's no way the school was able to verify the info for all students.

My late dad wore a leather helmet, no facemask. He was first team all SWF Conference too. I've used Google News to read about his games at Sarasota High School. He would do things like in one game block a punt, recover a fumble, sack a qb, ect..

I'm not saying it's Photoshopped,but there's something wrong with it. It's anachronistic.
The shorts on the guy in the background don't fit the era, nor does the print processing.
I say it's a posed photo from the 70's or so, with an at-the-time already antique helmet - just for effect.
I highly doubt that player ever wore that helmet in a game.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. ... Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like ... tears in rain. ... Time to die.

That's my dad in 1948 at Sarasota High School. Number 79.

Note, he had the photos on one of those old photo albums that damages the photos over time with acidic paper and glue, hence the damage to the photos. The first photo I adjusted the contrast and tried to take some of the scratches out. You can use Google for 1940s high school football uniforms, there are several similar posted.

The thing is, as he got older, he didn't like football anymore. He called it a "stupid sport". I guess with all the injuries and hype you see on TV. I know growing up, we were huge Dolphins fans so its when he was a senior citizen this changed. But anyway, Sorry about hijacking the thread for a moment. The mention of leather helmets reminded me of my late father.
