If USF wins out we will probably be in the top 12 and ranked ahead of Miami. I'll take that and whatever bowl we end up in.

Guys,
Notre Dame isn't going to complete ****...just as we're going to need a lot to win out.
ND's offense is good enough to beat anyone in the country when on.

Who are they going to beat? UConn...maybe/maybe not. Pitt, no. Stanford probably not. I think it's most likely they go 7-5. You may have an eligible 11-1, or at the very least 10-2 #2 BE team eligible for Gator. ND doesn't take Gator at 7-5, over an 11-1 or 10-2 BE team. If they somehow manage to get to 8-4, then they are in Gator.

Yes, ND's offense is so unreal that it has averaged almost 5 points less per game than PITT. While their schedule is harder than PITT's it is not as if they have beaten any good/great teams. Their 2 convincing wins this year are over Washington and Nevada...woo hoo. ND may be 9th in yards per game, but they don't score. They are 36th in the nation in scoring offense, you know, the offensive stat that actually counts. My prediction is PITT wins in the 27-24 range.

Re: Did the gator bowl become much more probable?
Right now the scenario looks like it could play out that the Big East ends up with three 10 win teams if we can win out, Pitt wins out through Cincy and same for Cincy.
Pitt and UConn beating Notre Dame would make the argument for the Big East over Notre Dame in the Gator and I wouldn't put it past Stanford to take out the Irish over in Palo Alto. It wouldn't shock me if Stanford upended USC next weekend.
A USF that wins out may end up in the top 14. A Pitt that loses in the last game to Cincy but finishes 10-2 will also finish in the top 14. So we might have three teams eligible.
The winner of Ohio State/Iowa is the likely only Big Ten team that will get in this year. If we beat Miami then Georgia Tech is the likely only ACC. We know the SEC will get two bids, but there are a total of ten bids. Even if Texas goes to the NCG there may be no other Big 12 team eligible. The PAC-10 will get Oregon and probably USC unless USC drops another one. Stanford beats the Trojan and they're likely out for the BCS.
So this is the year where the Big East has the best chance of getting two in if we can close the deal. Notre Dame is out. TCU and Boise will only both get selected if the BCS bowls are forced to due to no other eligibles of IF Texas goes to the NCG and there's not another Big 12 team. The Fiesta will then go for a TCU/Boise St. matchup in all likelihood, though they might take USC first if they are eligible and then pick TCU if they are the automatic bid. Boise State's tight game against La. Tech hurts them and will make it so the BCS won't want them unless forced to take them.
So even if Cincy doesn't get in I still see two Big East being a possibility.
NCG: Texas versus Alabama/UF winner.
Sugar loses highest seed and picks the other SEC quad to replace the SEC rep in the NCG.
Fiesta loses Texas and no other Big 12 is eligible. They pick 10-2 USC as a replacement.
Orange picks first and chooses a 10-2 USF to play Georgia Tech if USF is eligible or possibly Pitt. Doubtful they take TCU and who else is eligible?
Fiesta picks TCU to play USC.
Sugar picks Cincinnati to play Alabama/Florida.
Remember that Pitt was the school that one Dan Marino played for and he could lobby the Orange Bowl committee for Pitt.
I think if Pitt blows out ND and just loses to Cincy that the Orange Bowl would have a tough time not selecting them since they hammered us.
But a 6-6 or even 7-5 ND doesn't go to the Gator over 10-2 USF. The big problem for picking us is they may not want a Miami rematch. Not sure if Chick-fil-A would pick Miami before the Gator. SEC/Miami matchup could be alluring.
So a 10-2 USF likely goes to Gator if there's a 10-2 Pitt and a 12-0 Cincy.
Cincy needs Texas to lose to get in and it wouldn't hurt for TCU to lose either.

Your going to see Iowa picked over a second Big East. Book it, they'll come in droves, always do

Iowa will still go to the Rose Bowl if they beat Ohio State. If they lose and lose badly to Ohio State then Iowa is unlikely to be ranked in the top 14 of the final BCS. Their computer ranking will tank at that point and they'll get dropped in the other polls.
Besides, bowl organizers want teams they think will draw AND teams that will give them a good game. With Iowa's struggles against teams like Northern Iowa they have problems. They did beat an overhyped Penn State team. They squeaked by Arkansas State and Northern Iowa. They lost to a mediocre Northwestern squad. If they get beaten down by Ohio State that will seal there fate.
Have you seen how badly Big Ten teams have performed in the BCS of late? Maybe attendance helps them. More likely attendance helps us in the eyes of the Orange Bowl if we finish in the top 14.
